FAUSTI - This is the third and last time that Jesus cries out (7:28-11:43). It is the cry of Wisdom, which invites us to turn to her for life. Jesus does not have listeners before Him. His cry resounds, beyond space and time, inviting every man to believe in Him in order to have life. He is at the centre of everything, because everything has its own life in Him. He directly asks anyone who listens to Him. To believe in Jesus, the Son, is to believe in the Father who sent Him to save the world. No one has ever seen God: the Only-Begotten Son has told Him. The Word is Light: it makes exist and see what exists (1,4.5). Jesus is the Light of the world (8,l2). Believing is connected to light: it makes reality known. Whoever believes in Him has changed residence: he has moved from darkness to light, he has passed from death to life. (5,24) To believe in the Son is to see the light of our truth and of God: to know Him as Father and us as His children. Faith in practice is to listen to His Words, which are Spirit and Life (6:63-8). God sent His Son not to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him (3:17). And His judgment will be that to be judged and give His life for those who condemn Him. If he who receives the Son is not condemned, he who does not receive Him has already been condemned (3:18). Not by God, however, but by himself: he did not accept his own reality, he preferred darkness to light (3:19), he did not accept the Word of Life. Jesus is the definitive prophet to Whom to listen Jesus acts and judges according to the fact that the Father shows Him and gives Him to do (5,19...). Every command of God is for life (10:17). The purpose of His action is to awaken us and make us live (5:21). Accepting the Word of the Father gives us the power to become children of God (1:12). Jesus is God's exegete (1:18): He tells us His Father's Truth, which is our salvation as children.
