I SHALL DRAW ALL MEN TO MYSELF JH12,31-36

  1. FAUSTI - At the hour when the Name of the Father is glorified in the Son, at the hour when man knows God's love for the world, there is the judgment that shows the lie of the " boss " of this world. Satan, the principle of lie and death, has put himself at the top of the world, replacing the principle of truth and life, now it is expelled from the world and conquered. In front of the Son of the lifted up man, the lie that made us flee from God ceases, and finally we find ourselves in the Love of the Son, who is the same as the Father, the source of our life.
"My servant will succeed, be honored, exalted and greatly lifted up" (Is 52:13).
The cross of Jesus, the Servant, is not seen as killing and death, but as exaltation and glory: His falling to the ground is His being lifted up by the earth.
Whoever does not know the Love of the Father, is fleeing from Him as Father, from himself as son and from others as brothers. He enters darkness and death. However, his heart is made for truth and love, for that truth which is love, the light of his existence.
When he finally sees what he is made for, he immediately recognizes it, just as thirst recognizes water.
Then, free from the blindness and fears that block him, he is drawn to the Son, who reveals to him his identity as a son. Then he returns to the Father and turns to his brothers and sisters.
"I will attract" is to the future: it is valid from then for an endless future.
The Words of Jesus are related to the Cross. The death of Jesus will not be by stoning, as His adversaries have repeatedly tried to do: it will be by "raising" from the ground.
Dying on the gallows, Jesus disappoints the expectation of man, but in this way He fulfills every promise of God. For this "it is necessary" that the Son of man be lifted up.
The rejection of the crucified Messiah is the rejection of God and His glory. This rejection is the cause of the cross and is won only by the cross.
From there, in fact, God reveals Himself as He is: Absolute Love. .
Jesus answers the question about His own identity by inviting us to look to Him, the Light of the world, who will soon disappear. The grain will fall into the earth, the light will enter into darkness.
Jesus exhorts us to make a choice, to "walk" in His light, so as not to remain in darkness.
It is the theme of the contrast between Light and darkness that, like that between Life and death, crosses the whole Gospel.
Whoever does not walk in the Light of the Son of Man raised up, who reveals the Love of the Father, "does not know where he is going" because he does not know where he is coming from. He lives lost, in ignorance of his own principle and his own end. To walk now becomes "to believe in the Light"; it is necessary to adhere to Him, the Son, the Light of the world, from Whom all creation receives life and light.
He remains among them for a short time. Soon He will die.
But in this very way he will be lifted up and will enlighten everyone: His leaving will be the definitive Light, the Glory.
