JESUS AND ABRAHAM JH 8, 25-45

  1. FAUSTI - The Word, like a mirror, shows the reader his blindness in front of the Light of the world, so that he can be healed, as will happen to the blind man in Chapter 9.... Only if they believe in Him as "I am". the Son who reveals the Father, they may have the light of life, otherwise they die in their sins (24)
When He asks about His identity, which has just been declared, Jesus reaffirms that He is precisely what He has said and has always said. But they do not even understand that He speaks of the Father, as the evangelist notes. In John, the two distinct moments of the Passion and Resurrection are rendered in a single word: "Raise up".
"In fact, from the beginning John saw the cross as His glory.
Every time he speaks of raising, he also says one of the fruits that it produces: the gift of eternal life to those who believe in the Son Who reveals the Love of the Father (3:16), the knowledge of "I am" as an intimate union between Father and Son offered to every man and in the end, victory over the enemy and attraction to the Lord of the whole world.
Opposition to Jesus reaches its summit. The light enters, like a blade, into the depths of darkness: the truth of the Son is in conflict with the lie that is in the brothers and sisters. The cross is now on the horizon.
Jesus does not die, but is killed in the name of God, because He witnessed to a God Other than what we think. He is "The" Son of God who shows us the true face of the Father, Who is love and service, forgiveness and salvation for every lost person. At the origin of His killing is the ignorance of God as Father and of oneself as children. For he who ignores the Father does not accept to be a son and kills himself as a son, others as brothers and, in the end, the Son Himself. The cross is the point of arrival of the "sin of the world". It is the ultimate consummation of evil, beyond which it is impossible to arrive... Disciple is not one who knows and says the word, but he who does it, or rather, "is made" by it. To dwell in the word means to have with it that familiarity that assimilates us to Jesus, the Son, and makes us progressively know who he is and who we are. THE TRUTH IS FREE - The truth of the Son makes us free because it gives us our identity as children. Jesus intends to bring those who listen to Him to dwell in His Word to know the truth that opens their authentic lives to Him, in the freedom of the Son of God and of the brother of the other. "You will know" and "He will free" are to the future: it is the future, without end, granted to those who dwell in His Word.
The end of the Word of truth is freedom. According to the Bible, on the other hand, man is free because he is the image and likeness of that God who is Love, free because he is His interlocutor and partner, capable of responding to Love with Love. The personal bond with Him, the Absolute, absolves him of the dominion of his own pleasure or duty, making him capable of acting according to the love he knows. The principle of freedom is therefore love,
which makes us similar to God
