THEY GOT TO LOOK FOR JESUS JH 6,22-26

  1. FAUSTI - The crowd, coming to the "place", sees that there is neither Jesus nor His disciples: they don't find what they are waiting for.
    Then people returns to Capernaum, from where they left.
    There, as if by an invisible hand, were reunited the people who had participated in the gift of bread.
    The dialogue that Jesus will make with them in the synagogue will lead them to grasp the meaning of what had happened the day before. In His work of liberating His brothers and sisters, the Son is patient with them: He leads them into exodus, but follows them and he is also present in the counter-exodus.
    It is the first time that the crowd has spoken to Jesus.
    The Bread of the Son, which we all need, makes us His interlocutors. One can seek the gift of the Lord or the Lord of the gift.
    Jesus wants to educate them from their selfish horizon so that they may welcome His love.

  2. Acts of the Apostles 6,8-15.
    Stephen, filled with grace and power, was working great wonders and signs among the people.
    Certain members of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen, Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and people from Cilicia and Asia, came forward and debated with Stephen,
    but they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he spoke.
    Then they instigated some men to say, "We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God."
    They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, accosted him, seized him, and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
    They presented false witnesses who testified, "This man never stops saying things against (this) holy place and the law.
    For we have heard him claim that this Jesus the Nazorean will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us."
    All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

    Psalms 119(118)
    23-24.26-27.29-30.
    Though princes meet and talk against me,
    your servant meditates on your statutes.
    Yes, your decrees are my delight;
    they are my counselors.

    I declared my ways, and you answered me;
    teach me your statutes.
    Make me understand the way of your precepts,
    and I will meditate on your wondrous deeds.

    Remove from me the way of falsehood,
    and favor me with your law.
    The way of truth I have chosen;
    I have set your ordinances before me.

    Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ
    according to Saint John 6,22-29.
    [After Jesus had fed the five thousand men, his disciples saw him walking on the sea.] The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat, but only his disciples had left.
    Other boats came from Tiberias near the place where they had eaten the bread when the Lord gave thanks.
    When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
    And when they found him across the sea they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"
    Jesus answered them and said, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
    Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal."
    So they said to him, "What can we do to accomplish the works of God?"
    Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent."

  3. BENEDICT XVI . In the beginning there is the hunger of men who have heard Jesus and whom He does not dismiss without having fed them, there is then the "necessary bread" we need to live. But Jesus does not then allow us to stop there, He does not allow man's need to be reduced to bread, to biological and material necessities "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Deut. 8:3).

    FAUSTI - The crowd, coming to the place, sees that neither Jesus nor His disciples are there .
    They do not find what they are waiting for. So they return to Capernaum, from where they had departed. There, as if by an invisible hand, those who participated in the gift of bread are gathered.
    The dialogue , which Jesus will have with them in the synagogue, will lead them to grasp the meaning of what happened the day before. They seek to know Jesus' movements, "When did you come here?" Jesus does not answer their question, but instead what moves it. He shifts the focus to another level : This is the Lord speaking, intending to straighten out the ambiguity of their search. One can seek Jesus only because He guarantees material bread to survive or because one has seen in the bread the "sign" of Him giving Himself.

  4. People set out in search of Jesus, news of the miracle spreads, and behold, others arrive from Tiberias, and many boats sail to Capernaum, to meet Him. He sees them coming and enlightens them about the motions of their search, still turned to the bread that satiates the body and not to the Work of the Son that reveals the Father's Providence , which gives the Living Bread that lasts for Eternal Life. Jesus invites with His Word : "Get busy for the Food that remains for Eternal Life " which He Himself will give. The call is strong, for all times, because it leads outside of time and takes on the meaning of the call to the realization of the Will of the Father who desires His Son to be accepted as the Way to Eternity, the Truth that enlightens and guides, the Life that gives Himself to bring forth from above the children of God, called in Him to live forever ! If often, in history, the conditions of progress are hindered by unforeseen events and obstacles , by crises and emergencies of various kinds, are the conditions that increasing difficulties see us employing resources and insisting on human and material achievements, or do they help us direct every effort to the search for that which directs hearts toward the eternal and life-giving goals of the Word and the search for a good that is the Will of God ? "Who wants all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth," writes St. Paul and explains : "For One is God and One is the Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all." And he recommends . "I therefore want men to pray, wherever they are, lifting up to heaven pure hands without wrath and without contention!"(1 Tim. 2:4-8).
