THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES JH 7, 1 - 13

  1. FAUSTI - The light that is given and the darkness that wants to overcome it are the theme of the concert that takes place: it is the struggle between light and darkness.
At the center is the person of Jesus, subject of self-giving and object of violence.
The two voices harmonize in Him who, by giving life, receives death and, by receiving death, gives life.
...The feast lasted seven days, to which was added an eighth, conclusive and even more solemn one...It is a joyful feast, of light and of water, which precedes the winter and celebrates the fullness of the gift of the promised land, which has given its fruits, both material and spiritual: it is the fulfillment of every aspiration of man and of every blessing of God...
We are at the third ascent of Jesus to Jerusalem
In the first, at Easter time, He entered the temple with a whip and revealed Himself to Nicodemus, attracting the hostility of the leaders, prelude to His Easter (2,12.3,21). In the second, during a feast, He healed the paralytic and revealed Himself to all as Son, earning persecution and mortal hatred (5,1-47).
In this third, as well as in the fourth, anticipation of the last, there is the official trial against Him, with attempts to arrest and eliminate Him...
Nearby is the feast of the Tabernacles or of the Huts, where thanks are given for the harvesting of the fruits of the earth. Jesus rejoices in disbelief even among His own, who do not accept His concealment: they provoke Him to go up to Jerusalem, to manifest Himself to the world.
Jesus replied that the opportune moment of His manifestation had not yet come; it was in fact different from what they wanted. There is a counterpoint between the hidden/public, your/my moment.
His "brothers" believe that it is the right time to perform and succeed.
They think of it as the world: they want a glorious Messiah and they do not accept Him as the one who gives His flesh for the life of the world.
These brothers, on the level of reading, it is we Christians who do not yet live
of that food we receive in the Eucharist:
we do not accept His weakness as a strength,
    His hiding place as revelation,
    His cross as glorification,
His " Flesh " of the Son of Man as our Life.
Jesus goes up to Jerusalem, but alone; not obeying his brothers, but the Father; not following their expectations, but the will of those who sent him; not in public, but in secret.
His ascent is not the same as that of His brothers, just as His feast will be different from theirs; in it will take place the judgment that will take Him to the cross.
And He goes up after them, appearing only in the middle of the feast, to then reveal Himself definitely in the "last day".
Where is He? ...The "where" is the place that one "now" occupies. "Where" and "now" are the coordinates of space and time with which one can identify any existing one.
While the "hour" is the same for everyone and flows continuously, taken away from our freedom -
only God determines the "hour" - The "where" is different for each one and more stable for each one, available to our freedom. It normally indicates the house where one dwells, which is also where he comes from and where he goes. The "where" is therefore the unknown that differentiates one person from another.
