FAUSTI - From heaven came the Son and the Spirit upon Him. From heaven came also the voice of the Father. To the disciples Jesus promised that they would see the sky open on the Son of man. Heaven indicates the divine sphere, the Father Himself, from whom the Son comes and to whom He returns, from Whom He receives the Spirit He will give to His brethren when He is lifted up from the ground. The open sky, full communion between God and man, will be His torn side, from which the mystery of God pours out on the world. "FATHER!" By this name Jesus calls God: He is the Beloved Son who loves the Father. The invocation "Abba" is the cry of the Spirit in us. To say "Father" to God in Spirit and Truth, in the Spirit of the Son who is our truth, is true worship (4:23), the ineffable joy of discovering His and our identity. In this word God is finally for us what He has always been in Himself, and we become what, thanks to Him, we are. "It is the hour of the glorification of the Son of Man, announced at Cana (2:4), which began after the anointing of Bethany (12:23) and was fully accepted by Jesus, despite the upheaval that it entails (12:27). It is in fact the hour of the seed that dies to bear fruit (12,24) . The Son lives it as a full expression of His Love for the Father and His brethren (13:1), a manifestation of glory. This power of the Son is revealed in the Love that gives life. In fact, precisely by giving His life, He becomes the beginning of life like the Father. This is the command that the Son receives from the FATHER. The power of the Son over all creation is that of Love: it is the power of those who become servants, so that we too can wash our feet of one another, loving one another with the same Love with which He loves us. The gift of the Son is the life of the FATHER. All flesh is destined to live by the breath of God, the Holy Spirit, mutual love between Father and Son. Life is to "know" God as Father, to have the same knowledge of Him as the Son. It is not a matter of simple intellectual knowledge, but of vital experience. "To know" expresses the intimate relationship of Love between Father and Son. Jesus came to manifest the name of the Father, to make Him known to us, because we contemplate His glory as Son: He wants to give us His same relationship with the Father. In fact, He loves us as He loves Him, the only-begotten Son, who, in turn, loves us with the same love with which He is loved by the Father. The infinite wonder and unspeakable joy of each person is knowing that he is loved by the Father with the same love with which He loves the Son. The life that Jesus gives us is His own knowledge and communion of the Son with the Father. In fact, "to know You is perfect justice and to know Your power is the root of immortality" (Wis 15:3). The Gospel is written to make us know the gift of God. As men we live according to what we know. Whoever does not know the Father, ignores himself, others, the world, - himself as a son, others as brothers, the world as a gift from the Father The only true God is what we know through the Son It is the Father who loves us as children and whom we love as a Father. Jesus places Himself on the same level as the one true God, He is the Son, sent by the Father to save the world through the knowledge of His love. It is in fact the knowledge of Love that saves.
-->The Father cannot be known without the Son who reveals Him, nor the Son without the Father who draws us to Him.Jesus, the Messiah, reveals to us the only true God as Father of all: He is the Son sent by Him to reveal His love to us. The discourse goes from the third to the first person: Jesus revealed to His brothers and sisters the glory of God, the beauty of the love between Father and Son. Jesus, who raised His eyes to heaven, now turns them to earth, looking at the work done. He glorified the Father. He manifested His love by giving life and freedom to His brothers and sisters, opening eyes to the blind and washing the feet of the disciples. His fatigue will soon reach its end when He will deliver the Spirit. The work of Son is the same as that of the Father: to make us brothers in order to be children. The glorification of Jesus is a historical process, like becoming the flesh of the Word. It visibly germinates in His Baptism, grows in His work for men and now is fulfilled in His uplifting, when He gives His life. His elevation is His elevation to the Father, the fullness of His power of loving and giving Life. This is the Glory that the disciples will soon contemplate. Jesus, now close to the cross, asks the Father to glorify Him "now" by manifesting through Him His eternal Love for the Son and for all His children. Jesus manifested to men the "Name". the Unknowable, He who is What He is, is called Abba, Dad. To say this Name means to enter with Him into His relationship of love as Son with the Father: God is my Father, my Father is God! Father says otherness and identity, nature and relationship, origin and destination. What the Son did and said made us know the Father who is in the Son. "He who has seen Me has seen the Father" (14,9). "Men whom You have given me" . They are the disciples who have already broken with "the World". They came out of the darkness as sons. They are the first fruits of those who by their testimony will believe in the Son. They do not belong to the world, but to the Father. I am His property, His children. The Son regards as a gift from the Father those who adhere to Him. They are His brothers. The Word of the Father is the Son Himself, who reveals His Love. His disciples are those who have received and guarded Him. The verb guarding, in Greek, means observing, looking well: the eye goes where the heart is.
