I HAVE SENT THEM JH 17,14-19

  1. Fausti - Jesus, before returning to the Father, leaves us these words that will always speak to the world through His disciples.
In particular, through the disciple whom Jesus loved, who remembers them and tells us about them in the Gospel.
His words, which make us "One" in love, have as their end our joy (15:11).
It is the same as the Son, loved by the Father. Jesus wants it to be in us to an ever greater extent, to the point of being complete.
All the action of God brings the joy of man.
Joy is the signature of the author, the seal of God on every work of His.
The gift of Jesus, the Son, is He Himself, Word of the Father. It is the Word that purifies and cleanses us, the truth that makes us free (8:32), the light that brings us "out of" the world, understood as belonging to the darkness.
This Word is Spirit and Life (6:63): by communicating to us His own Love for the Father and for our brothers and sisters, He makes us children of God.
"The world loves what is its own: darkness hates light, lies hates truth.
The disciples are hated in the same way as Jesus, because He is not from the world, but from the Father, and He tells the truth. Whoever is from the world has another father: the devil, a murderer and a liar from the beginning.
The joy that the disciples have is that of the Son, who is not "from" the world, but "from" the Father, who never leaves Him alone (16:32).
Even in afflictions He always enjoys His consolation (2 Cor 1:3-7).
The disciples must remain in the world, without being of the world.
Thus they can continue His mission, for the salvation of the world.
They are in the flesh, but they do not live on the flesh. They live in this world and in this flesh as children of the light. The Holy Father, keeping them in His name, makes them one in Love. In this way He preserves them from the evil one, the devil who divides them from the Father and from their brothers and sisters, to imprison them in darkness, loneliness and sadness.
At the center of prayer is being "one" of the disciples, present and future. It is the gift of the Son that makes us children and brothers. As Jesus leaves, the disciples remain in the world.
But they are not "from" the world, they are the property of God, they belong to the Father as sons, to the Son as
brothers. This prayer, with stylistic and thematic references to 1:1-18, is like a prologue that anticipates the elevation of Jesus, where God expresses His Glory.
    "Sanctify them in the Truth."
The Holy Father makes us holy like Him, establishing us in His truth of Father and our truth of children.
We are holy like Him, if we love our brothers and sisters with the same Love of Him and of the Son.
The Word of the Father is the Only Begotten Son, who manifests to us the name of the Father.
From Him we receive the grace of the Truth, of the Truth that makes us free (8:12), children and brothers.
"The mission of the Son, sent into the world to reveal the Love of the Father and to save it ( 3:16) , now becomes the same as that of His disciples.
Every child is such because he turns to others as a brother.
Jesus is sanctified by the Father for His mission as Son (10:36) through the Spirit. In turn, Jesus sanctifies Himself as Son, loving his brothers and sisters with the same love as the Father, to the point of exposing, disposing and laying down His life in their favor.
This sanctification will take place on the cross when His flesh, which has become the Epiphany of the Saint, manifests the perfect Love and offers us His Spirit.
The Father sanctifies the Son and the Son sanctifies Himself because we too are saints like Him.
What sanctifies us is the truth of the Love that Jesus reveals to us.
The purpose of the action of the Son is to sanctify our brothers and sisters, making them children to the image of the Father.
