"REMAIN IN MY LOVE" JH 15,9-12

  1. FAUSTI - We are at the vertex of the revelation of God Love:
The unique and total Love that the Father has for the Son is the same as the Son has for us, His brothers and sisters.
In the Love of Jesus we see the extreme Love of God for us.
"Love" in Greek means a perfect Love, which has always been and forever.
The Father loves the Son and has given Him all things in His hand.
The being of the Father is To Love and to be loved by the Son.
In their mutual love, the being of the One is being of the Other and vice-versa.
This Love and Life of God is the beginning of everything, it is given by the Son to us, His brothers and sisters.
We are dizzily caught up in the Love of the Father and the Son, partakers of Trinity' Life. We are called to dwell in His Love for us,
which is the same as the Father has for Him and for us.
This is our true home, where we can live and find our identity as children and brothers.
The only love between Father and Son also circulates in us and makes us dwell in the Son as the Son in the Father.
Jesus is the first man Who dwells in the Love of the Father; He is the Son who fulfills His will because He loves His brothers and sisters. We too dwell in Him, in His Love, if we love each other as He loved us.
"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. (1Jn 3:14).
Faith is inseparable from love, rather, it has love as its object.
In turn, God's love is inseparable from love and love for man.
"For he who does not love his brother whom he sees, cannot love God whom he does not see.
This is the commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God, also loves his brother" (Jn 4:20). And it is also inseparable from works:
One does not love "in words or with one's tongue, but with deeds and in truth" (1 Jn 3:18).
The purpose of Jesus' action is to communicate to us the ineffable joy of the Love that exists between Him and the Father.
Joy is the color of Love, which lives in reciprocity: the One who love and are loved. rejoices ever and for ever.
Much love is without joy because it is either not love or it is not reciprocal.
Joy, which comes from the communion of love, is the aim of Revelation. (1 Jn 1:1-4).
It is God's own to give joy. And it is God's own and only to give joy without any reason that produces it. It is the inner exultation that comes from His Spirit in us, that attests to us the Love of the Father.
Man is an insatiable desire for happiness. Only God gives him that limitless joy which is He Himself, infinite Love.
Jesus washed disciples' feet, declaring Himself the model to imitate in order to be like Him, Master and Lord.
Immediately afterwards He said that there is no greater servant of His Lord.
Here He recalls and completes the instruction. If the servant does as his Lord does, he obtains the same results: if they have persecuted Him, they will also persecute them, for the same reason.
Selfishness and Love are irreconcilable, like death and life. There is never peace between them.
Disciple's destiny is the same as that of his Master.
The Disciples are persecuted for the Name of Jesus.
Not because they hurt, but because the Spirit of Glory and the Spirit of God rests upon them.(1Pt 4:14). The reason for the persecution is the ignorance of the Father.
Whoever does not know the Love of the Father, does not love himself or others: he hates love.
Even if, like the older brother, he observes all the prescriptions of the Law (Lk 15:29), he would go against the principle of the Law, which says that he loves the Father and his brothers and sisters.

  2. Acts of the Apostles 15,7-21.
After much debate had taken place, Peter got up and said to them, "My brothers, you are well aware that from early days God made his choice among you that through my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe.
And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us.
He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts.
Why, then, are you now putting God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?
On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they."
The whole assembly fell silent, and they listened while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders God had worked among the Gentiles through them.
After they had fallen silent, James responded, "My brothers, listen to me.
Symeon has described how God first concerned himself with acquiring from among the Gentiles a people for his name.
The words of the prophets agree with this, as is written:
'After this I shall return and rebuild the fallen hut of David; from its ruins I shall rebuild it and raise it up again,
so that the rest of humanity may seek out the Lord, even all the Gentiles on whom my name is invoked. Thus says the Lord who accomplishes these things,
    known from of old.'
It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God,
but tell them by letter to avoid pollution from idols, unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals, and blood.
For Moses, for generations now, has had those who proclaim him in every town, as he has been read in the synagogues every sabbath."
    Psalms 96(95),1-2a.2b-3.10.
    Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all you lands.
Sing to the LORD; bless his name.

Announce his salvation, day after day.
    Tell his glory among the nations;
among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.

Say among the nations: The LORD is king.
    He has made the world firm, not to be moved;
he governs the peoples with equity.
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15,9-11.
Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete."
