The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son" His judgement, like His action, derives from His love. We think of God as a judge; we would like Him to be our accomplice. Instead, He saves us from our evil, because He is Father and loves us as the Only Son Whom has given us. The Father's judgment is against evil, not against those who do it. The judgment is given to the Son and, like Him, to all His children. In fact, salvation is accepting or refusing to be children. This does not depend on God, who loves us all, but on our freedom. Whoever "listens" to the Word of the Son, "believes" in the Father and has Eternal Life, Love between Father and Son. Eternal Life is already granted to those who listen to Jesus: His Word makes us live a filial and fraternal existence, freed from selfishness, sin and death. Whoever accepts to be a child comes out of darkness in the light of a life free in love. He has moved into the Son, who has His abode in the Father. The Father has Life in Himself. It is the same that He gives to the Son. Both have the fullness of Life. Their reciprocal Love. The Father holds nothing for Himself; His realization is the relationship of Love and gift to the Son, to whom He gives everything. The Son in turn gives everything to His brothers and sisters. Those who listen to Jesus are allowed to live the very Life of God. What Jesus said about the relationship with the Father is a splendid panorama, which takes your breath away. It is the garden of childhood, the lost dream that the Son, revealing Him, awakens and gives back: it is the true promised land, which Moses saw with amazement from Mount Nebo, into which the Son introduces us. I cannot do anything by myself. "The Son is Jesus, whose doing and judging comes from the Father: He does as He sees and He judges as He listens. His judgment, unlike that of those who condemn and want to kill Him, is right. Just because He seeks the Will of Him Who so loved the world that He gave His Son, not to judge him, but to save him (3:14-17). For this reason "His" judgment will be the supreme work of God, His glorification and that of the Father.
