  1. FAUSTI - The place of departure of the testimony is Bethany, beyond the Jordan, where the baptism of John is received: the place of the truth of man is also the place of encounter with the Lord. Two disciples: one is Andrew, the other, anonymous, is mostly identified with John "the disciple whom Jesus loved". Jesus begins His journey which, from beyond the Jordan, leads to Jerusalem. On this journey He reveals Himself:
"Truth is made way to lead us to life".
The Baptist, a man of expectation, is the only one able to see it and indicate it to others. The other cannot be the product of our actions: he is always the grace of an encounter, finding or discovering of one who manifests himself. Whoever dwells with the Son meets his brother: he is the one to whom he communicates his experience. True fraternity lies in the word exchanged.
Those who have encountered the Word cannot fail to communicate it, just as those who are enlightened cannot reverberate other than light."We have encountered the Messiah". is the surprise of those who discovered the treasure.
Andrew communicates his joy to his brother, because he is interested both
in Jesus and his brother, who is also interested in the Messiah.
The Messiah is the king who would fulfill every promise of God and expectation of man.
It is the brother who leads to the Son. Everyone comes to meet the Other through the mediation of another who testifies to Him. The encounter is a game of glances that penetrate the heart.
"You are Simon" Jesus says his name without anyone having previously communicated it to Him. He Himself is the Word, which first said his name and makes it exist.
My identity is a gift from the Other who calls me and loves me. As one is called, that is his name. There is a secret name, which no one knows and only the Lord reveals.
It is the identity of a person, his "vocation", which will be his "mission".
Each of our names always has a part of light and one of darkness. Only when our shadow turns to Jesus, are we fully enlightened. This is what will happen to Simon: he, in his own infidelity, will experience the fidelity of his Lord.

  2. Poems - Karol Wojtyla
    "Who is he who comes?
Everything else is closed in on itself, the grass runs
on the edge of the wind.
...Man meets the One who always precedes him,
courage - here is the meeting point
and each of us is a fortress."
